Software Support Engineers
Visual Analytics Inc. (VAI) is seeking several full-time Software Support Engineers to facilitate installation, configuration, and training of our advanced analytics and information sharing software suite. These individuals must be highly motivated, have great interpersonal skills, and be technically proficient, especially with databases (SQL).

Our tools are delivering unprecedented results to the analytical community (intelligence and law enforcement) and satisfying the need for better and faster technologies for data analysis and investigative support around the globe.
Successful candidates will be offered specialized training to support our technologies and are expected to become proficient in all aspects of their installation, configuration, and use. Additionally, Software Support Engineers will provide training where required, troubleshooting, and on-site/remote support. This position requires travel within the continental U.S. (and potentially internationally), as needed, to meet customer and project requirements.
Esssential Duties, Responsibilities & Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Top Secret Clearance
- Minimum2 years experience in software support position(s)
- Willingness to travel required (based on client locations)
- 3+ years of experience in:
- Database systems design (schemas, indexes, optimizations)
- SQL syntax (for debugging) including JDBC/ODBC driver configuration
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, firewalls, routers, etc.)
- Programming logic (scripting, batch, regular expressions)
- Basic analytical exposure/experience
- UNIX exposure is a plus
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving installation or application errors
- Experience with supporting/addressing customer training objectives
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively deal with customers

Duties:
- Install & configure our products (VisuaLinks/DIG) in various customer environments
- Review client database schemas to understand structure and content
- Generate mappings to analytical models and info sharing protocols
- Customize tool parameters and settings to reflect client requirements
- Help end users operate system and analyze/share data
- Support installing software updates and patches
- Document any limitations, bugs, or issues encountered in client environment
- Conduct customer training as needed (on-site and/or at company headquarters)
- Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness
- Provide on-site, post-installation customer support
- Communicate progress and status of client projects
This position requires a Top Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
