The Data Modeler creates a single, consistent view of database entities. The Data Modeler is an advanced mapping
tool that allows modelers to define the information sources and data to be used for analysis purposes - removing the
complexities of database structures for users.
Data models define data types and their attributes as well as the types of associations that exist within the data.
The data model also controls the visual representation of data within VisuaLinks.
The Data Modeler provides those responsible for creating data models with an interface that validates connections,
verifies syntax, and provides table preview and data transformation capabilities. The Data Modeler is designed to act
as a wizard and guide the modeler through the process of building and implementing data models.
Data Modeler Example
An organization needs to perform an analysis using multiple data sources - an Motor Vehicle Administration database,
the SSN Death Index and a database of banking transactions - in order to find potential criminal activity.
The Data Modeler allows the organization to merge the disparate information sources into a central view allowing
them to choose the tables and fields most important to their analyses. Analysts can then query and load the data to begin a full and thorough analysis.
